Can you watch NFL games on HBO Max?
HBO Max's published U.S. live-sports lineup does not list live NFL games. It describes NFL Draft coverage among its Bleacher Report programming; that is different from streaming a live NFL game. Check the current official sports lineup rather than buying a plan based on NFL-related shows.
For a live game, start with our NFL TV schedule or your team's guide, then confirm the announced broadcaster. See NFL Network access, Prime Video sports or Sunday Ticket when that source is assigned to your game.
Which plans include live sports?
In the U.S., Standard and Premium include live sports; Basic with Ads does not. Premium's four-device allowance for other content does not apply to sports: both sports-eligible plans allow two simultaneous sports streams. Plan availability varies by subscription provider, so check an existing bundle or provider account before paying again. Official plans and device allowances.
Selected MLB, NHL, college football and basketball, soccer and other events appear in the sports lineup. Access does not cover every game in those leagues. Live sports include commercials even on Standard or Premium.
Check the event and your location
Open the Sports section in HBO Max and find the exact event. Use the official blackout guidance and game lookup to check availability for your location. Some games are restricted by league blackout rules; if unavailable, check local listings for another announced broadcaster.
Compare our MLB schedule, NHL schedule and college football schedule with the official event listing. A league logo or subscription tier alone does not guarantee a particular game.
Watch on a TV, phone or tablet
Open Sports in the HBO Max app, then select your event. Live sports work on supported devices; check your TV or streaming player's compatibility before buying equipment. HBO Max also lists Chromecast, AirPlay and an HDMI connection as ways to watch on a television.
On a phone or tablet, HBO Max requires location sharing for live games so it can apply blackout rules. If playback is blocked, check the app's location permission and the event's local availability.
